Once Again, MIA

“To be or not to be, that is the question…”  A noble question indeed, however…

The question right now in my life is “Am I coming or going?”

I know, I totally suck! I fully admit it.  But, hear me out. There are good reasons I am ONCE AGAIN so out of the loop and missing in action.

For one, I was on call last week and lost on average three hours of sleep a night. That was followed by this week, where I have been working late for several days on end due to problems with my project that just won’t go away. And to top it all off, I have spent several sleepless nights due to the latest fiasco to upset my fragile existence.

BABY RATS! R-A-T-S! In my house!!!

Yes, I saw a baby rat scurrying across my bathroom the other night as I was doing my business, helpless on the john.

UGGGGGHHHH! Add that to your list of reasons to leave the city, Radical Mama! You forgot to mention the rats!

So half the time I am walking around like a zombie, and the other half of the time I am walking around like Rambo.

KILL! KILL! KILL!

<um, I know this is shocking to hear coming from the animal lover and all, but…>

DIE! DIE! DIE! Get out of my house, you disease infected good for nothing four legged pieces of shits!

I called Rat Control at 9:01 the next day. Massive cleaning endeavor ensued. Now, we are planning to put out the rat traps this weekend and get the hell out of dodge.

Wish us luck!

I promise to visit you all soon. Witch’s honor.

Vindicated! And Then Some

Remember way back, when I discovered that my car had an intermittent delay control for my wipers? And my husband made fun of me because I had the car for over six years before discovering this? AND ALL CARS HAVE THAT ANYWAY???

Remember that?

Well, guess what? My new Honda Fit doesn’t have this ability.

Nope.

There is no dial to control the delay speed on the wipers. Nada. Just not there, my friends…HA! Take that!

It feels so good, I have to say it again… HA! HA! HA!

“All cars have that” my ass.

However, in lieu of there being a delay control on the end of my wiper thingamajiggy thingy, there is a control for the rear windshield wiper. Yes, you read that correctly, rear-windshield-wiper. How in the world did I get to be so lucky?

And guess what else? It rained today! So, there I was, driving along in the rain, controlling my rear windshield wiper.

Be still my heart!

Some Reasons To Smile

What are the chances you read about two stories in the same day that make feel so damn good, you can’t help but run around smiling like a cheshire cat on steriods?  Two stories not at all related but in an odd way, two sides of a similar coin:

Abused woman being rewarded for all their past woes with a new smile (and new found confidence).

Volunteer Dentists Restore Smiles to Abuse Survivors

And then there’s the big bad bullies getting a costly spanking for treating thier female employees like shit.

Fired Massachusetts pharmacist wins $2M in discrimination lawsuit agaist Wal-Mart

<beaming grin>

Ok, I admit, as awesome as these stories are, the shit eating grin may have more to do with buying a new car last night. As in really new, not just new to me! Talk about getting a new lease (get it? lease?) on life and my morning commute.  Oh, to finally know how the other half lives…

The Summer of Two

Summer is my favorite time of the year.  And now that Piper is two, she is really able to enjoy the best parts of summer.  Unlike last year as I watched her sleep on a beach full of sand and crashing waves which were completely ignored.  Last summer, we wheeled her right by the rides on the boardwalk.  She was too young to be excited by riding in an elephant or on a train, especially when we pushed her coach faster than those rides could go.  Last year, the best part about walking around the zoo for three hours were the pigeons.

But this year… this year, she is soaking up the summer sun and everything that goes with it.  On the beach, she played in the sand for hours upon hours.  She was fascinated by the waves and the vast ocean that went as far as she could see.  On the boardwalk, she was thrilled to ride on the colorful mini train and go around in circles.

This year, she is old enough to recognize the exotic and domestic animals we saw at the zoo.  Plus, she was finally old enough to venture into the petting zoo.

This year, she is old enough to jump around in a pool and to appreciate just how awesome it is to be submersed in water outside of the bathtub.

Yep, this year is totally different.  Two years old is much better than one year old when it comes to summer fun.  And the best part of it all?  At two years old, she isn’t old enough to know all the other, somewhat annoying things about summer.  The things that make mothers cringe. Like ice cream trucks. Every time she hears one of those trucks circle around the neighborhood (which seems like every fifteen minutes or more), she jumps up and down, claps her hands and screams to me, “Mommy! Mommy! Hear the music?”  She loves the pretty music. Other than that, completely clueless.
