Happy Birthday America!

First off, I want to thank all of you for being so understanding over the rat crisis.  Unfortunately, so far we have not rid of our baby rats. However, fortunately, we have not seen or had any other hint of them either.  The rat traps are still bare, but there haven’t been any further indications that they are running around the house, cleverly avoiding the traps.  Perhaps that big lug of a fur ball I call my cat actually managed to scare them off.  By his mere presence along mind you, because he certainly didn’t put forth any effort.

And, of course, just as things return to normal after my complete rat meltdown, along comes another holiday to stir up the normal routine. My husband has graciously offered to BBQ for half of the city in our 2x4 concrete backyard tomorrow. You know what that means? I will be cleaning my ass off AGAIN.  Not that our friends aren’t use to our dirt and mess by now, having been invited over on the spur of the moment or dropped by unexpectedly in the past.  Still, I feel this need to at least put on the appearance of being tidy and together. At least I have a lot of rugs to sweep the dirt under, always a plus.

On a completely different subject, I have finally checked out Facebook, especially since Jess over at the Oh, The Joys has graciously invited me as a friend in her network. I have no idea what all the Facebook is about, but fuddled around best I could.  I even poked Jess.  Not sure what it means to virtually poke someone on Facebook, so I apologize Jess if that actually hurt!

On another note, I started writing for Philadelphia Is My Home.  I just received an email today from the editors that the site is due to go live next week.  It is a new site that hosts blogs for most major cities in the US.  Yours truly will be the voice for the Philly blog.  Rather exciting, even if I right now feel I have bitten off more than I can chew.  It is yet another reason for why I have been out of sorts lately.  A lot of up front leg work.  I will post the URL and beg shamelessly for you all to stop by once it goes live.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Fourth of July and that tomorrow night finds you lounging under a beautifully lit up sky!

<Ohhhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhhhh!>
