Thrills and Chills

I am soooooo pissed at myself!

This weekend, we went to Storybook Land (note: extremely annoying music on website).  It is a great place! It is completely geared towards 2-6 year olds, so Piper was finally old enough to go and enjoy it.  This was the first time she was on rides, like real rides.

She had a blast! We went on the Flying Dumbos together, the train ride, the merry-go-round, the Ferris wheel, the go carts…

After about the third ride, she sort of caught on to the process.  You go up the ramp, wait at the gate, get into the little car, buckle in and wheeeeeeeeeeeee.

So, when she saw the next ramp, up she ran ahead of me.  Only this time it was for the roller coaster.  OK, sure it was a kiddie roller coaster and all, but still I have to say, I was worried.  I have a very timid child.  The sound of the doorbell ringing has her scrambling for cover.

So, I followed her up and started to explain to her that this ride was too big for her.  It was too fast and too scary.

“I go on it! I go on it!” she insisted.

The man at the gate then stopped her to make sure she was tall enough to ride it. As I was trying to give him the look to say she was too short, he happily shouts that she just made it (thanks to the Cindy Loo Who hairdo I gave her).

So, off we go on the roller coaster, despite my warnings.  Despite my insistence.  She just had to go on it!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!

I am soooooo pissed at myself.  I forgot my camera and thus do not have a picture of the look on her face!

It was classic. Classic, I tell you.  Sheer terror with a dab of thrill.  After we got off, she jumped up and down and giggled. But really, she was shaken up.  She walked over to my mother and told her, “I was scared, gamom.”  Yet, I think she was proud of herself too.

Unlike her mother.  Who was silently cursing and smacking herself for not having captured such a perfect moment!

My freaking two year old went on this:

Okay - the only problem with my twins wanting to go on something like this is that I would have to go with them. Scary. Eek, indeed!

Sounds like a fun day!

I suspect my 2 year old would have loved it, the little adrenalin junkie.

Holy shit! There's no way I could get my 3 year old on that. The almost 2 year old? Would love it. We'll be sure to avoid amusement parks until he's old enough to ride by himself!

Wow, I remember Storybook Land, though it looks much cooler now. I did not do a roller coaster until I was like 21 and I went all out with Lightening Loops. Something to look forward too.

Holy crap! Miss M would have died. Good one, Piper. Maybe now the doorbell won't be so scary.
